Wafula Jimmy Simiyu is a distinguished legal practitioner with over 21 years of active post admission experience in litigation in constitutional and public administrative law, specialized commercial (banking, insurance, competition and insurance) and land related litigation including compulsory acquisition of land, socio-economic and human rights law, corporate governance, banking, contract negotiations, drafting, implementation and dispute resolution. As the Managing Partner at Wafula Simiyu & Company Advocates which he founded in the year 2007, he has overtime established himself as a formidable force in Kenya’s legal landscape, providing cutting-edge legal solutions to complex matters in public and private sectors.
On 1st October 2024, he formally merged with MKJ LAW LLP to become MKJ ADVOCATES LLP where he currently serves as a Senior Partner, heading the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department.

NO. 3962), professionally certified mediator, arbitrator and alternative dispute resolver, Wafula has successfully handled numerous landmark cases spanning constitutional petitions, judicial reviews, banking and financial law disputes, ICT and data protection, contract, land and conveyancing disputes, corporate governance, procurement and regulatory authority, and employment law disputes. He has been at the forefront of shaping legal jurisprudence in Kenya, arguing cases before the specialized tribunals like land acquisition tribunal amongst others, magistracy, High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court.
His expertise extends to corporate governance audits and regulatory compliance, where he advises leading local and multinational corporations, government entities, and international organizations on best practices in corporate governance, public finance management, procurement law, investment law, and transnational treaties. As a Certified Professional Mediator, Wafula has successfully conducted over 80 complex private and court annexed mediation cases, demonstrating his commitment to alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and the solution-oriented nature of his practice.
Beyond litigation, Wafula is a thought leader in legislative drafting and policy development, having contributed to key legal reforms, including broadcasting regulations, criminal justice processes, and the ICT legal framework in Kenya. His advisory work with global firms such as Huawei Technologies and Dell Emerging Markets UK underscores his deep understanding of emerging legal trends in technology law, data protection, and international business regulation.
A relentless advocate for human and socio-economic rights, Wafula is deeply involved in pro bono legal aid, offering support to vulnerable women at Lang’ata Women Prison, mentoring young lawyers, and providing free legal clinics to underprivileged persons in society. He loves sports and practices sports law before the sports tribunal. He uses sports as an empowerment tool for young boys and girls by supporting them join different sports academies across town. His leadership extends beyond the courtroom—he is an active community mentor, youth coach, and a champion for corporate social responsibility.
He is an LLM ongoing student in International Financial Law and Regulations at Strathmore University and has additional certifications in corporate governance, impactful leadership, and mediation.
