Having worked for the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) for over a decade through the Graduate Trainee programme, he is proficient in all Revenue Laws with a speciality in Customs Administration Laws- skills honed as a senior Post Clearance Auditor. He has advised clients on tax regulations, compliance, and strategies to manage and minimize tax liabilities. It’s crucial for businesses to navigate tax laws effectively to avoid penalties and ensure compliance.
He also engages in Family Law and Succession Litigation covering matters such as marriage, divorce, child custody, and inheritance disputes. His expertise in family law is essential for handling sensitive cases with empathy and professionalism.
As a Patent Agent, he heads the Intellectual Property (IP) function which includes protecting creations like inventions, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. As an expert in this field, he has assisted clients to secure their intellectual property rights and navigate potential infringement issues.
Career Highlights
As a Land Law expert, he has successfully represented two County Government in the Coastal Region on the twin scourge of Historical Land Injustices and Illegal Allocation of Public Land relating to thousands of hectares of land and property. In Kenya, historical land injustices refer to the inequities and grievances stemming from colonial land policies and other injustices over time. Addressing these requires a thorough understanding of both historical context and current legal frameworks.
Where public land has been wrongly allocated or misappropriated, the involvement of County Governments and adherence to national regulations is crucial in addressing these issues. The law firm is currently representing the County Governments and the coastal communities in a number of disputes at the National Land Commission (NLC), the Land Acquisition Tribunal (LAT) and the Environment and Land Court (ELC). His representation in these forums has been essential for ensuring fair outcomes for residents affected by land disputes and illegal allocations.
He is also involved in Environment Matters touching on Access to Beaches and Sustainable Use of Shoreline Land by residents of the Kenyan coastal region. Environmental matters at the Kenyan coast are significant, especially concerning residents’ rights to access public beaches and the sustainable management of shoreline properties.
